About RefundPlot

RefundPlot is written, built, and maintained by [AUTHOR: full name — background in software/quantitative work, why tax calculators, contact channel]. It is an independent personal project — not a bank, not a tax-prep company, not an accounting firm, and not backed by any institution. There is no filing product here and nothing to upsell: the calculators are the product, and they are free.

This site is part of a small family of independent calculator sites by the same author; a one-line author page lives at javaeye.dev/about (single link, no endorsement implied in either direction).

The community research behind this site was blunt about why people search for tax calculators: they want a fast, honest number without an account, an email gate, or a lead form. So that is the whole deal — no registration, no server-side storage of your inputs (calculations run in your browser, and saved snapshots live in the URL itself), and no estimate inflation to keep you engaged. Two commitments keep that honest:

  • Reproducibility. The same inputs always produce the same output. Every result can be saved as a snapshot URL and replayed, bit for bit, by anyone you share it with. When tools disagree, reproducibility is how you adjudicate.
  • Transparency. Every constant cites its source and verification date, every formula expands step by step, and numbers that have not yet been verified against the primary IRS document are labeled as such — visibly, next to the number. Our full formula list and the update changelog live on the methodology page.

RefundPlot does not file returns, does not sell tax preparation, and does not give personal tax advice. Every calculator output is an estimate for planning purposes only; it is not tax advice, and it is not a substitute for filing an accurate return or consulting a qualified professional who knows your full situation. Community perspectives quoted across the site are quoted to show the range of real-world views, not as recommendations.

Corrections are welcome: if a constant, formula, or explanation here is wrong, please email [email protected] with the source and we will fix it, credit it in the changelog, and re-verify the page.
